Path to Path

November 2026

There are many paths and no wrong turns. Since 2022, my legs (and soul) have been shaky and have given myself grace to take one step at a time. Paths I thought I was on changed in an instant, all of a sudden everything around me felt surreal.

This year, in 2026, I have followed many paths— creative, adventurous, memorable, and healing. I walked the trails with various groups from the New Mexico Art League, sketchers at the Coronado Historical Site, and there is one more sketching group to meet this month at Vulcan Volcano. We observed nature’s beauty up close, from a distance, and filled in our sketchbooks with our ideas and impressions.

Trails are everywhere in New Mexico and across “the pond”. Walking in a forest is where I regather, fill up my cup to love and give, and inspiration is kindled. Inspiration comes from everywhere— from a pine needle to rock walls to spring grass lined trails. This year also offered an extraordinary opportunity to venture to Dublin and the Cliffs of Moher with family, plus to meet Irish family!

A hiker/artist from a workshop included this quote by Edward Abbey in an email exchange:

"May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view."

All paths lead us to more experiences and more choices. I am full of gratitude for all the excursions, big and small, I took this year. 2026 is wrapping up with new paths for my heart and curiosity (always) for what is around the corner.
